Maybe I'm a contrarian but I rarely seem to align with the common consensus. I really like the prequel trilogy, I can't stand Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift or Beyonce, I've never played Fortnite. You get the drift.

But what cultural things that are widely accepted do you actually agree with?

I'll start with Raiders of the Lost Ark is easily the best Indiana Jones movie.

I probably first realized that I was diverging from the "mainstream" by the time I got into high school and realized that I was seeking out different music than my peers. After that, an education in English and writing further cemented that fact. I look at everything analytically, be it entertainment or other aspects of life.

From time to time my interests will overlap with the mainstream. This usually happens when something with real, artistic quality, happens to make it into the zeitgeist. But of course if that thing is long lasting I get to watch as it gradually becomes "uncool" and the kids move on to the next thing without me.

But there also occasions when I "allow" myself to "enjoy" things that I know are crap. Or perhaps these things are crap, but I'm able to identify one or two "quality" aspects that are worth paying attention to.

Adam Sandler movies spring to mind. I know some of them are "crap", but I enjoy em!

Yeah, I enjoy them too. Silly, usually not too raunchy, and always with a heartwarming conclusion.
